The Joys of Puppyhood #MyPuppyhood

This post is sponsored by Purina, and the BlogPaws Professional Pet Blogger Network. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about Puppyhood.com, but K2's K9s & Kitties only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Nestle Purina is not responsible for the content of this article.

As "Mommy" to half-a-dozen dogs over the last few decades, I have had poop-loads of experience raising puppies. As recently as a year ago, my most recent pups finally, blessedly, reached "adulthood" (ha, ha, I use the term loosely!  Do they, in fact, EVER grow up?).  But I'm here today to tell you about a new website just for puppy parents, from the folks at Purina®Puppy Chow®.
The site is called puppyhood.com, and it's something I wish I had a couple years ago when Charlie Brown was a terrorist puppy.

Charlie Brown, at 10 weeks old, being snuggled by "uncle" Hobie.  See that decorative spindle on the table, behind Charlie's head? Yeah, he ATE it one night when I was taking a bath.  He ATE IT!!I cried and cried and cried.  I was reminded of this incident when I watched Purina's promotional video (below) for puppyhood.com!!  All is forgiven, Charlie, all is forgiven.

Puppyhood helps new puppy parents navigate safely and sanely (ok, well, maybe not!) through... puppyhood!  There's only one opportunity to get your puppy's first year right. Many pets develop "issues" that can be traced back to the formative first months of their lives.  Don't be that pet parent! Use puppyhood.com to keep you and your pooch on track for the first year, and longer.

Membership is FREE at Puppyhood.com, and you can find a ton of helpful and important information about raising a puppy.  They even have a nifty puppy planning section, with a breed-selector and search feature hosted by Petfinder.com the Rescue/Adoption site.

Parents and their pups can get a customized learning experience with helpful tools such as a virtual dog walk, where you'll find "hotspots".  If you click on a hotspot, you get tips and expert advice on everything from training, to nutrition, and so much more.  There's also a puppy milestone tracker, to mark down and remember those important milestones you and your canine pal reach together in the first year.
Puppy Charlie, and his collection of chewable items.  He brought that stick in from outside!  It's bigger than him!

My favorite highlights I encountered when testing the site (thanks, Purina, for the great opportunity, by the way!)...

1)  I LOVE the fact that they included teaching your puppy hand signals.  This is so important for when your dog gets older, as many dogs become hearing-impaired.  I've always taught my pups hand signals from an early age.  It comes in handy later.

2) Was I thrilled that their pup-friendly travel section listed our very own Cape Cod as one of their top 10 dog-friendly travel destinations.  Yeah!!

3)  When I decided to try to select a puppy from Puppyhood's Petfinder section, imagine my delight when the American Foxhound came up as one of the top 5 breeds selected for me based on the criteria I filled in!!

There is so much more cool stuff, I could spend hours on the Puppyhood site.  All the Puppy Advice/Info is very up-to-date with the latest website visuals and features that really work, giving the human a unique, trendy, interactive experience -- all while learning a lot about PUPPIES.  There are sections on Puppy Health; Puppy Grooming; Puppy Training and Puppy Nutrition; plus ways to find the best Puppy Accessories/Supplies for your young four-legged friend.

Raising a new puppy?  K2 and the hounds are giving away six Purina coupons to readers who post a comment here on the blog, or on our Facebook page, and tell us what you like best about the new site, Puppyhood.com. 1. I saw that puppyhood video on Facebook the other day. It's adorable! I could have used a site like that when Abby was a puppy. She was such a brat! But, like Charlie Brown, she was so darn cute, you couldn't get toooo mad!

  2. Oh my goodness. I called Indiana the "T" word too! She had the SHARPEST little baby teeth ever and used them to let you know she would get her way. It took a trip to the Pet Supply Store almost in tears to ask for advice. Thank goodness the store employee also happened to offer puppy training classes so gave me a ton of good ideas and we signed up for her next class. Our puppy trainer is sill our Facebook friends and is studying to become a Veterinarian. For such a little dog Indiana was a HUGE handful I wish this website had been around back when she was a baby!

    1. I was just at a pet store today, and heard one of the managers talking to someone on the phone about puppy training classes, what to expect, etc. I was pretty impressed!!

  3. I can empathize with you on the things puppies eat! Our Golden actually ATE part of our house on the outside and then ate a hole in the wall of our office! I think we've lost parts of our furniture and house to all of our puppies, but Tucker was the most original! LOL!
